- Fourth-gen of the sedan
- Available in petrol and CNG guise
Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth-gen Dzire at the end of 2024, replacing the existing model for private buyers. However, the third-gen version continues to be sold as the Dzire Tour for fleet owners. Prospective buyers of the new-gen Dzire are curious to know the real-world mileage, hence we put the petrol AMT version through our fuel-efficiency regime.

Powertrain
First, let's get to the engine specifications. The new Dzire is powered by the brand's 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, which produces 80bhp and 112Nm torque. In the CNG version, the engine produces 69bhp and 102Nm. This mill also gets an idle start/stop feature. Besides, the gearbox choices include a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. The claimed fuel efficiency figures for the petrol AMT version stand at 25.71kmpl. Let's see how it fared in our test.

City Mileage
For 78.3km it covered in the city, it consumed 5.55 litres of petrol. This comes to 14.1kmpl, which is great, thanks to the car's light weight (970kg). In contrast, the instrument cluster showed 12.7kmpl, which was lower than what we expected.

Highway Mileage
The compact sedan traversed 80.8km, taking up 4.16 litres of fuel on the highway run. As expected, the Dzire returned an impressive 19.42kmpl. Though lower than the claimed numbers, it is fantastic for an automatic car. Again, the MID showed a lower 18.5kmpl indication, which we’ve noticed in our long-term usage as well. Though the Dzire has a 37-litre fuel tank, buyers will be carefree with more than 500km driving range.
