- Power & styling in a mid-range budget.To be honest, I had no plans to buy XUV700. I was looking for a 5-seater like Creta or Harrier in a mid-range budget. One fine day I stumbled on a piece of news that Mahindra had reduced prices of variants of XUV700. Though skeptical, I decided to pay a visit to a local Mahindra dealer. I had the opportunity to test drive the diesel AX7-L variant. And to my surprise, I was impressed by the light steering, comfortable seats, space, commanding seating position, safety, looks & styling, and the drive quality of the car. I booked the car and went through the purchase in October 2024. Coming back to the car, it has been a wonderful experience. I am impressed with what it has offered. The tech esp. the Adrenox features are really useful. It has a strong time-tested engine in the form of 2.2lit. mHawk which is quite refined from earlier versions. Body roll is minimal esp. in comparison to Scorpio. A slight push to the accelerator pedal and it just pulls ahead with ease. Steering is light and the vehicle is easy to manoeuvre in city traffic. The controls provided are well laid. However, I sometimes find it a little cumbersome to handle AC and hazard controls while driving. Pros: 1. Drive quality (4/5). 2. Safety (5/5). 3. Comfort (4/5). 4. Power & performance (5/5). 5. Features (4/5) Cons: 1. Suspension (3/5) slight noise. 2. Lag in Adrenox connectivity (2.5/5) Uses Vodafone sim. Mahindra must improve here. 3. Air conditioning (3/5). Should have been better. 4. Slight engine noise on high RPMs (3.5/5) Mileage: 12.2-12.5 km/l in bumper-to-bumper city traffic. 13.5-14km/l in normal traffic. And 15.5-17 km/l on the highway. I have driven approx. 3500 kms to date. One Patna-Delhi and back trip and two short trips of Sasaram and Rajgir from Patna.Rating Parameters(Out of 5)5
